State Health Insurance Enrollment Soars As Almost 300 Persons Register In Amichi

Choice Chioma | I-Witness News

In the first batch of enrollment into the Anambra State Health Insurance Scheme (ASHIA), the SECHUWARIIS Foundation, comprising notable philanthropists from the Amichi community, successfully enrolled 275 indigenes of Amichi in Nnewi South Local Government Area of Anambra State, a significant step in achieving their target of 500 indigenes.

Mrs. Chioma Iriemenam, Office Manager of the SECHUWARIIS Foundation and spokesperson, highlighted the foundation’s goal to ensuring that all members of the community, including the less privileged, have access to quality healthcare services without the burden of exorbitant hospital bills.

During the enrollment event, Mrs. Nneoma Anoliefo, representing Dr. Simeon Onyemaechi, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of ASHIA, enlightened the villagers on the benefits of the state health insurance scheme, emphasizing its role in reducing healthcare costs. She urged newly enrolled beneficiaries to seek treatment from authorized healthcare facilities and avoid unprescribed medications from unlicensed practitioners.

Mrs. Eugenia Umeakaeze, an indigene of the community expressed gratitude and optimism about the program. She shared her excitement at the prospect of accessing essential healthcare services, particularly eye care, without heavy financial burdens. She extended her gratitude to the SECHUWARIIS Foundation and the state government for initiating the program.
