ASHIA collaborates with State Ministry of Health, offers free health insurance to children living with sickle cell anemia

Anambra State Health Insurance Agency (ASHIA) has collaborated with the Anambra State Ministry of Health to offer free health insurance to children living with sickle cell anemia in the State.

The Managing Director ASHIA, Dr. Simeon Onyemaechi said that the Agency is happy to lend a helping hand in shouldering the financial burden associated with managing the health challenges of the sickle cell patients.

Dr. Onyemaechi who was represented by Dr. Ifediora Ngozika said that the Agency will continue to support them to the best of its capability.

She said this during the registration of no fewer than twenty beneficiaries of the free health insurance at ASHIA office in Awka.

The Director, Sickle cell orphanage and underprivileged home Agulu, Mrs. Aisha Edward Maduagwu, appreciated the ASHIA team for their warm reception.

She extended her appreciation to the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Afam Obidike, MD of ASHIA, Dr. Simeon Onyemaechi for their magnanimity towards special needs of the children.

She also appreciated the State Government for sustainability of the Scheme and prays that more attention be paid to the sickle cell orphanage home as more children needs assistance to keep living.
