Adoption Model: Over 100 Okija Indigenes Enroll in ASHIA

Choice Chioma | I-Witness

In an interview, Mr. Oraelosi Benson, the organizing chairperson representing the adopter, highlighted the rising mortality rates caused by unchecked health issues as a significant concern. He emphasized the importance of health insurance in addressing this challenge, noting that with the Anambra State Health Insurance Agency (ASHIA), people can access healthcare services regardless of their current health status. He further stated that individuals do not need to be ill to visit the hospital, as regular check-ups can help prevent severe health crises.

Speaking at the event, Mrs. Tonia Okoli, who represented the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of ASHIA, Dr. Simeon Onyemaechi, educated attendees on the benefits of health insurance. She explained that health insurance is a tool that ensures access to quality, affordable, and reliable healthcare services, thereby improving overall well-being.

Mrs. Oguchi Ngozi, one of the newly enrolled beneficiaries, expressed her gratitude to the benefactor. She shared that hospital visits had previously been a financial burden for her due to high medical expenses. With her ASHIA registration, she now feels relieved, knowing she can access healthcare without the fear of exorbitant medical bills.

The initiative has brought much-needed relief and health security to the Okija community, marking a significant step forward in promoting accessible healthcare in Anambra State.
