Following the declaration of the Governor of Anambra State, Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo CFR, who announced through the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Mr. Paul Nwosu on Septmber 29, 2022 that Government will give free Health Insurance cover to shuttle, urban bus drivers and keke riders who complied with the new IGR regime of state government, the ASHIA team earlier today met the stakeholders from the aforementioned groups and sensitized them on how the scheme works.
Speaking at the meeting which held at the conference hall of the Ministry of Health, Jerome Udorji Secretariat in Awka, the MD/CEO. of Anambra State Health Insurance Agency, Dr. Simeon Onyemaechi took time out to explain all the services, surgeries and drugs covered by the scheme and what is expected of every beneficiary.
Dr. Onyemaechi while informing the participants that the scheme was ready to start registering compliant drivers noted that the initiative was the first of its kind in the whole country.
He charged them to live up to expectation so as to benefit from the government free Health Insurance cover and access quality Healthcare services from anywhere in the state.
Dr Onyemaechi assured them of the resolve of his team to continue to ensure that services the beneficiaries of the health insurance scheme receive, will remain of high quality.
The representative of AiRS Chairman and Senior Special Assistant to Governor Soludo on AiRS, Mr. Isaac Okoro Okeigbo encouraged them to comply with the weekly/monthly payment to enjoy the free Health insurance which is on offer from Mr Governor.
Some stakeholders who spoke at the meeting commended the Soludo led administration for streamlining and harmonizing transport IGR which they noted will reduce the activities of touts in parks, multi-taxation and others that pertains to it.
