The Aguata-Orumba Women’s Association, Houston, Texas, has collectively enrolled over 930 indigenes from various communities into the Anambra State Health Insurance Agency (ASHIA).
This vibrant association comprises women from the 24 towns in Orumba North, Orumba South, and Aguata Local Government Areas, including Akpo, Nanka, Eziagu, Ezinifite, Ajali, Oko, Amesi, Ihite, Isulo, Ekwulobia, and others. The group is well-known for its annual medical outreaches conducted at various health centers and its efforts in adopting hundreds of indigenes into the ASHIA scheme.
During the enrollment exercise, representatives of the ASHIA Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Simeon Onyemaechi, sensitized villagers on the importance of health insurance. They urged beneficiaries to embrace the opportunity provided by the association to prioritize their health. ASHIA cards were issued to the newly registered members, granting them access to quality healthcare services.
Ofudum Chinelo, one of the newly enrolled beneficiaries, expressed her gratitude for the opportunity. She pledged to prioritize hospital visits rather than resorting to self-medication and roadside treatments, recognizing the value of health insurance in improving access to healthcare.
